Connect Claude or ChatGPT to FIYR
You can connect FIYR to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app that supports remote MCP connectors, then ask that app about your finances. The connection is read only, needs an active FIYR subscription or trial, and you can disconnect it at any time from Settings, Connected Apps.
Connecting your own AI app means you can ask about your FIYR data inside a tool you already use. It runs on your own AI account, so FIYR's daily Ask Fiyr allowance does not apply.
Connect Claude
- In FIYR, open Settings, then Connected Apps (under Account).
- Click Copy next to the address. It is https://fivebags-server.nn.r.appspot.com/mcp.
- In Claude, go to Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, and paste the address.
- Claude opens a FIYR page titled "Connect Claude to FIYR". Sign in to FIYR if asked.
- Check the account email shown, then click Connect.
- Back in Claude, ask something like "What did I spend on groceries last month?".
Connect ChatGPT or another app
The steps are the same: add https://fivebags-server.nn.r.appspot.com/mcp as a custom connector, then approve it on the FIYR page that opens. Look in the app's settings for "connectors", "MCP servers" or "integrations". Whether an app supports custom connectors, and on which of its plans, is up to that app.
What a connected app can see
The approval page lists it: your transactions, accounts, net worth, budgets, goals and FIRE plan, read only. In practice that covers spending totals and trends, transactions, categories, goals, Safe to Spend, transaction rules, assets, loans, net worth and its projection, recurring bills and income, account balances, FIRE, budgets and mortgage math.
- It cannot move money or change anything in your FIYR account.
- It cannot see your bank login.
- What you ask, and the answers, are handled by that AI app under its own privacy terms.
Disconnect an app
- Open Settings, then Connected Apps.
- Find the app. Each row shows when it was connected and "Read only".
- Click Disconnect, then Confirm.
You will see "{App} disconnected. Its access stopped immediately." To use it again, connect it from the AI app and approve it once more.
Subscription required
Connecting needs an active subscription or free trial. If you try without one you will see "An active FIYR subscription is required to connect." If your subscription ends later, the connected app stops getting answers until you resubscribe. See what happens when a subscription ends.
Common questions
Can a connected AI app change my data?
No. Connections are read only. They cannot move money, change anything in FIYR, or see your bank login.
Is the connection limited like Ask Fiyr?
FIYR's daily Ask Fiyr allowance does not apply, because the AI runs on your own account. Your AI app's own limits still apply.
Can I connect more than one app?
Yes. Settings, Connected Apps always shows the address under Connect another app, and lists each connected app separately.
How do I revoke access?
Settings, Connected Apps, Disconnect, then Confirm. Access stops immediately.
It says a subscription is required.
Connecting needs an active FIYR subscription or trial. Subscribe at fiyr.app, then try connecting again.
