The Net Worth page, explained

The Net Worth page shows everything you own, everything you owe, and how the difference has moved over time. This is a tour of every card on it and what each number means.

Where to find itNet Worth

Open Net Worth in the sidebar. On a phone it is one of the default tabs at the bottom of the screen; if you have changed your tabs, tap More, then Net Worth. The page needs an active subscription.

The header

The big number on the left is your net worth: what you own minus what you owe. Under it is the change since last month, in dollars and percent, green with an up arrow when you are ahead and red with a down arrow when you are behind. On a phone a small 12-month line sits under it.

On the right are TOTAL ASSETS and TOTAL LIABILITIES. Debts always show as a negative number in red. When you have values to check, a Review values button appears under them (just Review on a phone). It opens the monthly value review.

$724,050 in assets plus -$329,950 in debts = $394,100. Archived items still add $41,200 to that total, even while their rows are hidden.

The Net Worth, Assets and Liabilities tabs

In the right-hand column (under the list on a phone) are three tabs: Net Worth, Assets and Liabilities. Assets shows only what you own and Liabilities only what you owe, and the big number in the header shows that tab's total. The goal, pace, stats and milestones cards, and the Show Breakdown button, only appear on the Net Worth tab.

Rate cards: Annually, Monthly, Weekly, Daily

Four small cards show how fast your net worth has been changing, on average, over the range you pick on the chart (ALL, 5Y, 3Y, 2Y, 1Y, 6M, 3M).

MONTHLY = (net worth today − net worth at the start of the range) ÷ months in the range

  • ANNUALLY is MONTHLY × 12. WEEKLY is MONTHLY ÷ 4.35. DAILY is MONTHLY ÷ 30.44.
  • The start value uses each item's value in the first month of the range. An item you added later counts from its first value, so adding a $30,000 car does not show up as $30,000 of growth.
  • With ALL, the range starts at your earliest recorded month.

Example: on 1Y, your items added up to $200,000 twelve months ago and $225,000 today. MONTHLY is $25,000 ÷ 12 = $2,083, ANNUALLY $25,000, WEEKLY $479 and DAILY $68. Each card also shows the percent change spread the same way.

The net worth chart

The chart appears once you have at least two months of history. Use the switch next to the range buttons to flip between A/L (an assets line and a dashed liabilities line, with your net worth as the gap between them) and NW (one net worth line).

  • Hover any month to see each asset class and liability class with its value, plus the Assets: and Liabilities: totals for that month.
  • Dots mark events: a green dot when you added an asset, a red dot when you added a debt, and a green "Paid off" dot when a loan reached $0.
  • The dashed line past today extends your recent monthly trend 12 months forward (6 on 6M, 3 on 3M). It is a rough straight-line projection with a little smoothing for looks, not a forecast. Projected points show a "~" and "projected" when you hover them.

The chart includes archived items, because they still count. Click a class pill to chart just that class.

Class pills and group cards

Under the chart is a row of pills: All, then one per group with its value and share. Below that, every asset and debt is listed in a card for its group. Some debts are filed with the thing they paid for, so a group total is the asset minus its loan:

🏎️ VehiclesVehicle Loans
💼 RetirementRetirement Loan
📦 Personal PropertyPrecious Metals, Jewelry and Collectibles are filed here too
💰 LoansBusiness, personal, educational, consumer, margin, secured and other loans and lines of credit
💳 Credit CardsCredit Card Debt

Each row shows its share of the group and of your net worth, when it was last updated, a Liquid pill if it counts toward Liquid Net Worth, and, for anything except cash and credit cards with at least two months of history, an IRR line (its annual return, counting money you put in or took out through its label). The ⋯ menu next to the name has every action; see Edit, sell, archive or delete.

At the bottom, Hide Zero Balance hides $0 rows (totals do not change), and Show Archived & Sold (N) brings back rows you archived, sold or paid off.

Show Breakdown

On the Net Worth tab, Show Breakdown opens a flow diagram: net worth splits into assets and liabilities, then into classes. Turn on Show items to split each class into its accounts. Hover a band to see the amount, its share of the band it came from, and its share of your net worth. Archived and $0 items are left out of the diagram.

The stat cards

This Month
Net worth today minus the total of last month's values. An item with no value last month counts as $0, so something you add this month shows its full value here.
Year to Date
Net worth today minus each item's first value of this year (January if it has one). Items added this year count from their first value.
Debt-to-Asset
Total debts ÷ total assets × 100. With $260,000 owed against $485,000 owned, it reads 53.6%.
Liquid Net Worth
The total of items marked liquid. See How your net worth is calculated.

The goal, Debt Free, At your current pace and Milestones cards are explained in Net worth goal, pace and milestones.

Common questions

Why does "This Month" show a big jump after I added an account?

This Month compares today with last month's values, and a new item had no value last month, so its full value counts as this month's change. The Monthly and Annually rate cards count only how it changed after you added it.

Why don't I see the chart?

The chart needs at least two months of history. Add an asset with a past purchase date, or come back next month.

Is the dashed line a forecast?

No. It extends your recent monthly trend in a straight line so you can see where it heads. It does not model markets, payments or income.

Can I see debt-to-income?

Not yet. Debt-to-Asset is the debt ratio FIYR shows today.
