Find your way around FIYR
On a computer, every page is in the sidebar on the left, with Search (⌘K) at the top and Alerts, Settings, Help and Add Account at the bottom. On a phone, a floating tab bar holds four pages and More holds the rest.
The sidebar (computer)
- Search (⌘K)
- Opens a quick search for categories, groups, pages and labels. Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows from anywhere. Use the arrow keys and Enter, or Esc to close.
- Pages
- Ask Fiyr, Net Worth, Transactions, Recurring, Budget, Summary, Dashboard, Cash Flow, FIRE, Goals, Forecast, Income, Compare and Month View, in that order. The page list is fixed; you cannot reorder it on a computer.
- Alerts
- The bell shows alerts such as a budget running hot or a bank that needs reconnecting. See Alerts.
- Settings
- Profile, security, categories, rules, linked accounts, billing and more. See A tour of Settings.
- Help
- Opens this help center.
- Add Account
- Link a bank through Plaid, or add a home, crypto or other asset or debt by hand. It is greyed out if your subscription is not active.
- Sun or moon icon
- Switches between light and dark mode.
To make more room, click the collapse button next to the FIYR logo, or click any empty part of the sidebar. Collapsed, it shows icons only; hover one to see its name.
The tab bar and More page (phone)
On a phone, or any browser window 768 pixels wide or narrower, the sidebar is replaced by a floating tab bar at the bottom of the screen. It starts with Transactions, Budget, FIRE and Net Worth, followed by More. Only the tab you are on shows its name.
The More page holds everything else:
- Ask Fiyr at the top, when it is on for your account (unless you made it a tab).
- Pages: a grid of every page that is not in your tab bar.
- Tools: Edit tabs, Search and Alerts.
- Account: Add account, Appearance (Light or Dark), Settings and Help & support, then Sign out.
Choose your tabs
- Tap More, then Edit tabs under Tools.
- Under In the tab bar, use the up and down arrows to reorder, and the minus button to remove a tab.
- Under On the More page, tap the plus button to add a page. You can have 2 to 4 tabs; when you reach 4 the list says "tab bar is full".
- Tap Done to save, or Cancel to leave things as they were. Reset to default brings back Transactions, Budget, FIRE and Net Worth.
Tap More to see every other page and Edit tabs.
Your tab choice is saved to your account, so it follows you to any phone you sign in on.
Light and dark mode
On a computer, click the sun or moon icon at the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, use More > Appearance. FIYR remembers your choice. There is no "match my system" setting.
Pages that are computer only
The Dashboard is built for a wide screen, so it is not offered on a phone. Importing and exporting CSV files is also on a computer only. See Using FIYR on your phone.
Common questions
Where is sign out?
On a computer: Settings > Profile, at the bottom. On a phone: More, then Sign out at the bottom.
I can't find Ask Fiyr in my sidebar.
Ask Fiyr only appears when it is turned on for your account. See Ask Fiyr.
Can I put Dashboard in my phone tab bar?
No. The Dashboard is computer only, so it is not one of the choices.
What does Search find?
Categories, category groups, pages and labels. To search transactions themselves, use the search on the Transactions page. See Search and filter transactions.
