Welcome to FIYR

FIYR pulls your bank, card, loan and investment accounts into one place, sorts your spending, and turns it into a budget, a net worth and a FIRE plan. This page is a quick tour of every page and the five things to set up first.

FIYR is a personal finance app for people who want the real numbers: what you spend, what you own, what you owe, and when you could stop needing a paycheck. You link your accounts once through our bank connection partner, Plaid, and FIYR keeps everything up to date as your bank reports new activity.

The five things to set up first

  1. Link your accounts. Checking, savings, credit cards, loans and investment accounts. See Link a bank or credit card.
  2. Tidy your categories. FIYR starts you with a full set of categories in groups. Rename or remove the ones you will never use. See How categories work.
  3. Add a rule or two. Rules fix the same merchant the same way every time. See Transaction rules.
  4. Set a budget. A monthly amount per category, as rough as you like. See Set up your monthly budget.
  5. Add what Plaid cannot see. Your home, car, crypto or a private loan, so your net worth is complete. See Track an account FIYR can't link.

Every page in one tour

The pages below appear in this order in the sidebar on a computer. Ask Fiyr shows only when it is turned on for your account. On a phone, four of them sit in the tab bar and the rest are on the More page.

What FIYR can and cannot do with your accounts

  • Access is read-only. FIYR can see balances and transactions. It cannot move money, pay bills or change anything at your bank.
  • You sign in to your bank inside the Plaid window. FIYR never sees or stores your bank username or password.
  • FIYR stores only the last four digits of each account number.
