Where to find itTransactionsSearch transactions...

The search box above the list matches as you type. It ignores capital letters and looks in:

  • the transaction name
  • the category name
  • every label on the transaction
  • the amount, either as a number (12.5) or as shown ($12.50)

Search does not look at account names or the bank's original description. If you are renaming a transaction while searching, it stays on screen until you finish, even if the new name no longer matches.

Filters (computer only)

  1. Click Filter above the list.
  2. Set any of the fields below. The list updates right away.
  3. Click Clear Filters to reset everything and close the panel.
FilterHow it matches
Category: (Select Categories)Pick one or more categories from a searchable list grouped by category group. A transaction matches if it is in any of them. All Categories resets it.
NameThe name contains what you type, ignoring capital letters.
Account:One linked account, or Unknown Account for transactions with no account (ones you added by hand or imported).
Manually CreatedOnly transactions you added with Add Transaction.
Account Owner:Shown when your profile includes a spouse. You, your spouse or joint.
From Date: / To Date:Inclusive on both ends.
Label: (Select Labels)A transaction matches if it has any of the labels you pick.
Min Amount / Max AmountCompared with the amount without its sign, so a $50 refund and a $50 purchase both fall inside 40 to 60.

All the filters you set must match together. Search works on top of the filters.

On a phone

Phones have the search box and the 7-day strip (tap a day to show only that day). The filter panel is not available on a phone, so use search, or open FIYR on a computer for date, account and label filters.

Search across FIYR

To jump to a category or a label page, use the sidebar Search (⌘K or Ctrl+K). See Find your way around.

Common questions

Can I search by account?

Not from the search box. On a computer, use Filter and pick the account under Account:.

Do label filters need every label?

No. Picking several labels shows transactions that have any one of them.

Why does a $50 refund show up in my amount filter?

Min Amount and Max Amount compare the amount without its sign, so money in and money out are treated the same.

Can I filter on my phone?

Phones have search and the 7-day strip. The full filter panel is on the computer version.
